![]() ![]() Make the trip up to Everett and enjoy this hilarious musical comedy. This is not a cast of lily-white glam-bots - a temptation that some theatre companies succumb to, even today. I admire the casting of a cross section of American actors. As always, Village Theatre’s costuming, set, orchestra and tech were stellar. Toward the end, the gags come so fast, you have to stay on your toes to catch them all. Pro-tip: The program has a list of them on page 15 - it’s fun to compare notes afterward to see how many you spotted. I was reminded of Something Rotten, performed last year at The 5th Avenue, in that Howard Barnes is thick with dozens of homages to great musical theater. When it poked a little fun at experimental theatre, I could not stop laughing. Interestingly, this play is performed in a single act, and goes places you would never predict. Personally, I didn’t find it to be objectionable, but now that my kids are grown, my filter is off. ![]() Someone suggested that a PG-13 rating is probably about right. Although I’d recommend Howard Barnes for anyone, there are occasional sexual references that might make some parents briefly uncomfortable. Their most recent project, Romantics Anonymous, is already getting rave reviews. They’re young - in their 30s - just getting rolling, and if Howard Barnes is any indication, we are in for some great musicals. It might seem a tad hyperbolic to suggest that Dimond and Kooman will someday roll off the tongue like Learner and Lowe, and Rogers and Hammerstein, but I think it’s entirely possible. While we’re committing things to memory, you might as well add Christopher Dimond and Michael Kooman. Maggie’s soliloquy as she barges into Howard’s studio apartment was nothing short of extraordinary, and it brought the house down. Maggie (Taryn Darr) speaks to Howard (Joshua Carter) in his apartment. But Taryn Darr was a flawless, perfectly cast showstopper (both figuratively and literally) in the role of Maggie - the new girl in the office that Howard is crushing on. Jasmine Jean Sim was absolutely terrific in the role of antagonist/ex-girlfriend. Who doesn’t like a little lighthearted teasing about the glorious egos of successful musical geniuses like, say, for instance, well, Andrew Lloyd Webber? He landed the plum role of Von Schwartzenheim. (Photo by Mark Kitaoka)Īnd what about Jeff Steitzer? Who, among his many dramatic accomplishments, is the actual Voice of God for Microsoft HALO multiplayer games. Von Schwartzenheim (Jeff Steitzer) in all his glory. Ask yourself how you would feel if your humdrum, ordinary life was suddenly transformed into a musical? I think he handled it rather well. Joshua Carter, who nailed down the challenging title role, came off as a believable Howard Barnes - an ordinary guy “I’m Cheerios!“ - a man with a penchant for laser light shows more at home at a hockey game than in a musical. Everyone was laughing throughout the entire production. All this combined to make it one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve seen in recent memory. Howard Barnes has an excellent premise, is brilliantly written, is performed magnificently, and has a charming and accessible score. The fancy-schmancy restaurant where we had attempted to dine had screwed up dinner, (thank God I don’t have to write about that), it was pouring buckets of rain, and we were running late.īut from the opening curtain, I could see this was going to be great. I was in a foul mood when I walked into the Everett Performing Arts Center Saturday night. Described as equal parts satire, romantic comedy, and love letter to the American musical, Howard Barnes has the potential to become a household name and it’s debuting at the Village Theater in Everett right now. You can tell your friends you saw it when. ![]() Howard is introduced to the “musical” world. But it’s not too late for… what was it again? Oh yeah, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes. Want to be the first one on the block to see The Producers? Sorry, you’re too late. Basically, I loved everything about this musical but the name. I found myself having trouble retrieving the name exactly, as I stopped strangers in the streets, grabbed them by the lapels, and insisted that they run out immediately and get tickets. The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes might be an ill-advised title for a musical. Howard (Joshua Carter) bumps into Maggie (Taryn Darr) at a Rangers game. ![]()

The results of the study indicate that the existed ICT tools for the assessment of the cognitive abilities of the students with SLDM are more in number compared to the ICT tools for the assessment of the metacognitive abilities of these students which are more limited. The results of this study also serve as empirical support for establishing four training dimensions that can be considered priorities for the construction and implementation of a teacher training model that contributes to the sustainable development of education. The results of the questionnaire showed that teachers perceive their digital competences as inert and not very effective for innovation compared with the subsistence of traditional pedagogical practices, to deal with unpredictable situations or to generate differentiated adaptations for an inclusive education. In this sense, the objective of this study carried out between May and September 2020 was to determine the perceptions of 427 teachers from 15 countries about their digital competences in working with m-learning in primary education using a Montessori approach. This forced change in teaching methods has consolidated the recognition that the digital skills of teachers are a relevant factor for the sustainability of education, both during the pandemic and in a future post-pandemic period or in other emergencies. The current international landscape shows that the most common alternative for the continuity of formative learning processes during the coronavirus pandemic has been the use the of e-learning to support children’s learning in environments outside of school. ![]() ![]() ![]() I forgot easy didn't exist in the first game. There are also dedicated fans who have spent over a year working on the unlocalized behemoths to translate them. XSEED hit it big by luck (especially with Cold Steel). This game has a lot of dialogue.so much that most localization teams would consider it a loss before taking it on. I'll go more into that when we get into combat but.I'm not sure when we'll be hitting that. XSEED is the one that localized them, but that's not the link to the two companies I'm talking about. I also want to point out the Falcom and Marvelous company names at the bottom. It was luck that we got the one where we started in. There's only 5 towns in this game and I must say Rolent is the most memorable of all. As for that clock tower, I don't think it has much significance other than one past event.but I suppose that's a spoiler. I'm pretty sure that's the market on the left and I think you can see a smidge of the bracer guild with the golden building being the orbal shop. I didn't even notice the Areseille in the background. I never really looked too much at this games title screens until now and wow, I wish I looked at them more. When the game uses these standstill images, it looks fantastic. The game could not have picked a better title screen. For now, I want show you the title screen: I also know it's a turn off since the storyline is very long (probably 100 hours between the two games.I'll explain that later). I shot this game down like many people before due to these faults and it's a damn shame some of those people didn't come back and give it a second shot. I thought Estelle and Joshua were pretty boring/annoying characters (I really hated Estelle), the combat was a joke, and mother of god those graphics are kind of an eyesore. ![]() #Stick fight miniplay series#Now before you click away thinking this is just going to be about a guy fanboying a game, this is actually my least favorite game in the series as there's a lot of things I dislike about it. Why would you ever choose to say something with words, when you could say it with an adorable little cartoon character? I can't think of a reasonable answer to that question. HOWEVER, if you add an image first (we'll get to that below), you will have the ability to doodle on top of that. I couldn't get it to work through this window. Note: In the doodle window, you'll find a little camera icon in the top-right corner, which makes it seem like you should be able to add a photo and doodle on top of that. You can have an ongoing doodle conversation in which each new addition will be recorded in the main message window. Each change will create a new image that will be pasted below it. Afterwards, any Hangout participant will have the ability to "edit" the image by hovering their mouse over the image to prompt a clickable little pencil icon in the top-right corner. You can choose a number of brush sizes, shapes, colors, and amounts of transparency.Ĭlick "Send" and the doodle will appear in the main message window. (Seems unnecessarily complicated, no?) Click on the pencil icon and it will open a work space that you can use to "draw" simple line pictures. To get your Hangout doodle on, place your mouse over the picture icon (the little mountain scene in the bottom-right corner of the chat box) and it will reveal a pencil icon directly to its left. I'm told it's fun. Well, you can do the same in Hangouts, even though this function is curiously hidden. However, I know that one of the features that people enjoy on that service is the ability to draw humorous doodles. I'm super old, so I don't use the Snapchat. ![]() There are definitely some cool things you didn't know about. Check out our list of little-known treasures. While mobile is most certainly what Google's devs have in mind for Hangout's future, let's not neglect some of the cool things you can do in the desktop version right now. Looking forward, Hangouts may evolve into an even greater uber mobile communication hub, which will handle all your texting and voice calls as well. Google has since expanded Hangouts into a multipurpose, poly-screen, cross-platform (and even cross-OS) chat client. Throughout the years, various Google communication functions have been integrated into the greater Hangouts environment (e.g. But why do something dumb like that when the full-on Hangouts has so many cool things to offer? (There were even a lot of features that I-a veteran Hangout-er-discovered over the course of writing this feature.)
